Edible oils are one of the most actively traded food categories in the world, and they are Sentrick Foods' launch category. Whether you buy for retail, food service, or further processing, knowing the main oils, their origins, and the right questions to ask makes sourcing far smoother.

Olive oil

Grades range from extra virgin (the top quality, cold-pressed, low acidity) to virgin and refined. Key origins include Spain, Italy, Greece, Tunisia, Turkey and Portugal. Ask about variety (e.g. Koroneiki, Chemlali), acidity, harvest date, and whether organic certification is available.

Sunflower oil

Available crude or refined, in bottles, drums, or flexitanks. The Black Sea region (Ukraine, Russia) has historically led exports, with Argentina and EU refiners also active. Confirm whether you need crude for refining or refined for packaging.

Palm oil

Crude palm oil (CPO), refined RBD palm oil and olein, and palm kernel oil serve different uses. Indonesia and Malaysia dominate supply. Sustainability certification (e.g. RSPO) matters for many buyers — ask upfront.

Soybean & coconut oils

Soybean oil is a high-volume, price-reference oil (U.S., Brazil, Argentina). Coconut oil (the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka) serves food and specialty uses. For each, confirm grade, packaging, and origin.

What to ask every oil supplier

Grade and specification, packaging formats and sizes, MOQ, Incoterm (EXW/FOB/CIF), origin, shelf life, and current certifications (FDA, ISO 22000/HACCP, Organic where applicable). Get a sample before scaling.
